Dr. Benson Uwheru is a distinguished energy executive, governance expert, and transformational leader with a strong track record of driving institutional performance and sustainable growth. He previously served as Managing Director/CEO within Nigeria’s power sector, where he led reforms that improved operational efficiency, revenue performance, and governance standards.
During his tenure at Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), he strengthened corporate governance frameworks, increased revenue, improved collection efficiency, and reduced system losses. His leadership focuses on innovation, performance optimization, and stakeholder engagement.
He has over 15 years of experience across energy, banking, telecommunications, FMCG, and public sector institutions in Africa and Europe. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and an alumnus of the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School. At AAF, he contributes expertise in governance, energy systems, and institutional reform.
